Patients with Medical Cards or GP Visit Cards

Your Medical/GP Visit Card entitles you to a range of services from your General Practitioner which are determined by the HSE and the Department of Health, for which the doctor receives payment from the state.

There are a number of additional services that your GP provides that may not be covered by your Medical Card/Doctor Visit Card. The most common of these services are listed below and will incur a fee, however there may be other services not covered:

  • Medical examinations for legal purposes
  • Phlebotomy services (routine blood tests)
  • Examinations relating to fitness to drive / driver’s license medicals
